The former Crown Prince and Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef has been banned from traveling abroad and is under house arrest in Jeddah, the New York Times reported.

The newspaper quoted from US and Saudi officials close to the royal family as saying that these new restrictions were imposed on Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, and it is unclear how long it will take. Officials said they must not be identified so their relations with royal family would not be in danger.

A senior official in Saudi Foreign Ministry on Wednesday night, June 28, 2017, described the news as false and unreal.

According to the newspaper, these restrictions which imposed on Prince Nayef reflect the fear of the royal family’s members of changing.

Earlier on Wednesday 21 June 2017, a royal order was issued to expel Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef and replace him with the son of King Mohammed bin Salman.

A Saudi official denied the reality of these media reports. The official said in a statement to Reuters: “There is no basis in fact at all,” without giving any evidence refuting the American newspaper’s words.
