The Director of Operations of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs John Ging said that seven million Yemenis face the risk of famine, and exacerbate their suffering cholera epidemic.

He explained that the suspension of salaries affects a quarter of the population of Yemen.

The government refuses to pay the salaries of the northern and western provinces since its unconstitutional decision to transfer the Central Bank of Yemen from the capital Sanaa to Aden in September last year 2016.

According to the UN official, children are paying a heavy price for the war, with more than 460,000 children suffering from tragic humanitarian conditions due to the Yemeni conflict.

Ging added that the United Nations organizations are trying to deliver aid to the population, but it is still fraught with dangers, and called for the introduction of aid through the ports of Aden and Hodeidah and Sanaa airport, and called on the international community to find an executable solution to the Yemeni crisis.
