Arms deals is an obsession for the Saudi regime taking top agenda priority. In light of the strong Saudi relations with Washington, there are many reasons for Saudi Arabia to stockpile huge sophisticated wide range of US weapons.

The war of aggression on Yemen represented a real test for US weapons that have been flowing into Saudi Arabia for decades costing hundreds of billions of dollars, however unable to achieve the goal of occupying Yemen as jointly pre-planned with the White House. In addition, the inability of Patriot Air Defense to intercept Yemeni ballistic missiles has prompted the Saudi regime to seek a more sophisticated alternative. This is the case with an old Yemeni missiles, this erroneous regime wondering what will become of it, once Yemen appear possessing more sophisticated weapons. Saudi Arabia having many concerns and many more adversaries in the region, a few of them have intercontinental weapons. That’s why they sought from to Washington to supply more sophisticated systems, striking a15-billion-dollar anti-missile system deal. According to the US Department of Defense, the deal will support US national security and foreign policy interests and will bolster the security of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region in the face of Iranian threats and any other threats.

Separately, the US administration, in a letter to reassure the Israeli government, said that the deal with Saudi Arabia will not change the basic military balance of power in the region. That means weapons sold to Saudi Arabia based on two conditions: The first is that they should not be on par or better than those with Israel. Second, such weapons will be used to serve the US interests, and hence, the Israeli policy in the region. The United States of America considers Saudi Arabia its fighting vassal and Trojan horse waging US proxy wars. That is why it supplies them with advanced weapons, in the same fashion as with South Korea when Washington deployed Thad system in its territory a few months later to counter North Korean missiles.
