British Newspaper Unveils New Saudi Plan around the World

The Kingdom is planning to establish public relations centers in Europe and Asia as a part of a new campaign to counter negative media coverage that is trying to distort its image internationally, the Financial Times reported.

The newspaper said it had seen a document revealing the intention of the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information to establish public relations centers in London, Paris and Moscow earlier this month, pointing out that the Kingdom aims to establish these centers to promote the Kingdom of the real world, The document said.

The paper said the document confirmed that the initiative to establish public relations centers could be expanded to include Asian capitals and cities such as Beijing, Mumbai and other major cities starting next year.

The World Financial Centers are mandated to issue official press releases, publish content on social media and invite socially and internationally influential people to visit the Kingdom. The Ministry also wants to benefit from the centers in distributing and disseminating the viewpoint, or the Saudi perspective of what is happening in global developments. On the negative publications that are circulating about the Kingdom, in addition to working to promote the Saudi culture through art exhibitions and religious discussions, according to the document.

The move to confront global anti-global media comes as part of an ambitious reform plan led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which aims to modernize the economy, attract foreign investment and reduce dependence on oil.
