Death Toll of Cholera Rise to 1997 in Yemen

World Health Organization (WHO) reported 22 new deaths of cholera in Yemen over the past five days, total death toll since April 27 to 1997.

“A total of 527,470 suspected cholera cases have been registered in Yemen since April 27, with 1997 deaths, 22 deaths from last Monday and 24,000 cases.

Sanaa city and province of Hodeidah, the most prevalent provinces of cases of the epidemic, each recorded more than 62 thousand cases.

Pointed out that Hajjah province is the highest number of deaths by 381 cases, during the same period.

The report pointed out that «the province of Socotra, is the only one that has not recorded to date any spread of epidemic cases.

World Health Organization (WHO) said in the report on Monday that half a million and 3,000 cases of cholera in Yemen had been recorded, with a total of 1975 deaths.
